This guidance provides guidance on the use of mobile cranes alongside the railway with input and consultation undertaken with Network Rail. The requirements outlined in the document should prevent a potential catastrophic incident and applies to temporarily installed equipment such as wheeled and crawler cranes as well as lorry loaders, mini/compact cranes, truck-mounted self-erecting tower cranes, telehandlers and excavators used for lifting suspended loads. The guide does not introduce any additional requirements and is aimed at producing an easily accessible document endorsed by Network Rail.

This publication provides guidance for the Appointed Person on completing a lift plan for a contract lift. The publication is divided into four parts and contains guidance for safe planning and three template forms that can be completed by the AP which indicates the factors that need to be taken into account during the planning process. The forms include a sample risk assessment and method statement, a sample site plan form that shows the positioning of the crane and loads, and a sample form showing the crane access and capacity record for a crane hire. ESTA Guidance on Transporting and Installation of Onshore Wind Turb...
The European Association of Abnormal Loads Transport and Mobile Cranes (ESTA) has published a new best practice guide in an attempt to cut onshore wind farm accidents and the guidance establishes minimum requirements for transport and lifting operations of wind turbine installations by collecting existing and relevant industry guidance. The publication includes aspects of transport and lifting operations such as planning, inspection, maintenance and competency of personnel in order to minimise associated risks and aiming to improving health and safety relating to transport and lifting operations during the construction of Wind Turbine Generators (WTG) plants.
CPA Mobile Crane (Wheeled) and Mobile Crane (Crawler) - Operator Checks – Daily and Weekly Record
These pads of operator daily and weekly checks forms are produced by the CPA as an aid to crane owners and users in achieving the minimum requirements for compliance with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER) and the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER). They are in printed in a carbon-copy format comprising of 50 pages, with separate pads available for either wheeled cranes or crawler cranes.
They can be purchased by both CPA members and non-members, with a member and non-member rate applied accordingly.
