Nearly half (49%) of construction plant-hire firms expect to reduce entry-level roles over the next year as rising costs continue to put pressure on businesses.
Our latest CPA member survey also found that 43% expect to recruit fewer apprentices, 46% have already reduced hiring and more than a quarter (26%) have introduced recruitment freezes.
These figures should concern anyone serious about delivering the homes, infrastructure and economic growth the UK needs. Without a steady pipeline of new talent, the industry’s long-term capacity to deliver will come under increasing pressure.
