Our research found 43% of construction plant-hire firms expect to take on fewer apprentices over the next year. Not because they don’t believe in young people, but because rising operating costs, higher employment costs, increasing regulation and uncertain workloads are making investment harder
Plant-hire has always taken great pride in creating skilled, rewarding careers that help people build a future for themselves while building Britain. We want to work with the Burnham Government on practical measures that back investment, strengthen apprenticeships and give businesses the confidence to recruit, train and retain talent.
If we get it right, we can give more young people the opportunity to build rewarding careers while delivering the 1.5 million new homes, vital infrastructure and economic growth Britain needs.
