The CPA’s Tower Crane Interest Group (TCIG) has launched a guidance publication on the tendering, management and operations of tower cranes, devised to align and support the Crane Interest Group’s (CIG) equivalent guide.
It provides good practice guidance on suggested minimum standards when tendering, managing and operating tower cranes. It covers legal requirements along with industry good practice and directs readers to further guidance material. It aims to raise standards and encourage sourcing from responsible tower crane suppliers.
The guide illustrates where employing organisations should consider a level of assistance required from a tower crane supplier whilst indicating that tower crane suppliers should undertake an audit of their crane fleet and operational procedures to identify areas of strength and items where improvements can be made. This should ensure that decisions are made by the most appropriate parties and that they are made in a timely manner.
